Well, summer is winding down, and it’s that time of year again. Tans are fading, and if your children have grown anywhere near the rate mine have over this summer, then you definitely need to update photos.
I haven’t been this excited about a photographer since Olesja Mueller, so I just have to share these gorgeous images from Martelli Photography
Martelli Photography is offering Mini Sessions on August 28th in Long Island. We will be updating Sofia’s headshots with them in the fall, and I couldn’t be more excited! Check out the flyer below, and these gorgeous images of our friends, Alyssa, and Adriana Camposano. Amazing images, of amazing young ladies!
Space is limited, so if you are interested, contact them soon!
Happy Thursday Everyone! I keep promising myself that I will be more diligent about updating this blog, so here I am This week has been a crazy one so far. In this business, it can often feel like “feast or famine”. This week is proving to be a feast, and it’s not over yet.
Monday we were “booked out”. (This is VERY important to do if you or your child will not be available. It is crucial that you tell your manager or agent in advance so that they will not submit your child for jobs on the dates that you are unavailable. Firstly, if a casting director asks for a certain amount of kids, let’s say 10 for example, and your child is submitted for a job that shoots on a day when you are on vacation, because the agent did not know you were booked out, then a spot was taken from another child from your agency or manager, who may have had a shot at booking that job. That can also translate into a loss of money for your agency or manager. So please, remember to simply email your agent or manager with “BOOKING OUT” in the subject line, and let them know in advance when you need to be booked out.)
Now, back to this week (I happen to be deliriously tired right now, so forgive me if this entry is all over the place). Tuesday Sofia worked a fit modeling job for GAP for the better part of the afternoon.
Yesterday we were back in Manhattan for a go-see for a big name sports brand, and today, we have one audition set up for the morning, and one for the afternoon. Both are pretty exciting, so please send all your positive vibes this way!
As for tomorrow…who knows what tomorrow will bring, but if it is anything like the past few days, it is sure to be exciting! I’ll keep you all posted
We hope you are having a fabulous summer. Sofia and I have been quite busy this summer, traveling into Manhattan several times a week on auditions, go-sees, and regular “fit” modeling work. Sofia has been working as a “fit” model for GAP, and she absolutely loves it!
We had a few close calls this summer, which were pretty exciting. One was a callback for a European TV show that is filming in Belgium. Sofia went in against some very seasoned and lovely young ladies, and was called back. Haven’t seen anyone book it yet, but just getting called back was amazing!
She was also on hold for another campaign, which fell through, and went to a friend in the business.
While it may sometimes be frustrating to get put on hold, or called back, and then not book a job, it is important to remain hopeful. It is also a reassurance that she is in the right place. She loves what she does, and she is definitely catching the eye of the casting director.
As always, I am an optimist, and believe that what is meant to be, is meant to be. In the meantime, we are having a blast!
We hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous summer.
Hello friends and Happy Summer Solstice!
Many of you have asked for reputable photographers, and to update when Olesja from Gallery Row Studios will be back in town. She will finally be back early July. There are limited slots left, so I suggest contacting her ASAP if you are interested. You will not be disappointed. Her work is amazing!
You can email them at email@example.com
Spring Fever came in like a whirlwind, and we are finally back in the game. After a very slow winter (and believe me, I am not complaining… I HATE THE COLD!), Sofia has been averaging a go-see / audition a week. The above photo is a recent photo from last week when we had two appointments in one day. One was for fit, and the other was for a TV project, which she got a call-back for. We are keeping our fingers crossed for that one. It is the first audition that she has been on that she has voiced adamantly that she thinks the role is hers, and that she “really, really, really wants to book this”.
It has been so great seeing her really come into her own. She handled an 8 page script last week with grace and enthusiasm. I’m hoping this one comes through. I think she is perfect for the project, and she is super excited about it.
We will keep you posted!
Once again, Tricia Messeroux, along with her Toddlewood team, has worked her magic recreating this year’s Oscar nominated movie posters. Sofia was so excited to get to work with Giulia Ciccari again on the American Hustle movie poster. Here is a sneak peek of Sofia as Jennifer Lawrence.
Inside Edition was there and I will keep you posted on viewing information!
Danielle Wright, working her magic!
Hairstylist Danielle Wright doing her thing.
How amazing was Sofia’s transformation into Jennifer Lawerence for Tricia Messeroux’s Golden Globe re-enactment? When Sofia was booked for this, I thought that they would for sure just creatively pin her hair up in the back and use her existing bangs to re-create Jennifer’s hairstyle, and then spray it blonde. I was shocked when they pulled a blonde wig out!
Hairstylist Danielle Wright was the mastermind behind Sofia’s amazing hair transformation (and of course all the other children’s amazing hair styles as well.) I just wanted to give her a shout out and to say how wonderful it was to work with her.
She was so humble, sweet, and patient with all of the children and parents there.
You can check out Danielle’s work on her website, by clicking the link below:
Her work speaks for itself. Amazing woman, inside and out.
So, on my way to get Sofia and saw 11 cars accident. 6 cars, and then a few feet up, another 5. One car was smashed into a pole, another literally sitting crossways ON TOP of the median! Our car (and we have 4 wheel drive) was literally sliding all over the road like a bumper car.
I called our manager and told her there was no way to get into the city. I said, “I’m so sorry,” and she said “What are you apologizing about?! I totally understand, it’s not safe.” And that folks, is why we love Colette!
The job is supposed to shoot Thursday, so maybe they will direct book. Fingers crossed!
So I just thought I would update quickly since I need to get the hell out of here and head into the city shortly. Sofia has an audition today (yes, today, while it is snowing like crazy, and MAJOR accumulation is expected.) Logically the audition would be cancelled, correct? Well folks, I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again… THIS BUSINESS MAKES NO SENSE!
Emailed manager and confirmed that audition is still on for this afternoon (and 4 pm, no less!) . Indeed, my friends, it is still on!
I just spoke to another friend (y’all know her as Denise on this blog) and she is also heading into Manhattan now for a 3 o’clock callback. She also confirmed that audition has not been cancelled.
Both of us are having meltdowns, and yes, both of us are going.
This is the city that never sleeps, and so is this business.
This type of lunacy comes with the territory of this business, and I strongly urge anyone considering the business to really think about whether or not they could handle this.
In the meantime, wish us luck!
